AMAZING job in 'The Impossible'

Tom delivers an outstanding performance. I was amazed; the first thing we said when we left the cinema was:

Me: "What about the boy playing Lucas!?"
My friend: "For me the best of the film and then the SFX and sound".
Me: " yeah definitely the boy...also the OST"

Most of the film relies on his shoulders. He transmits the feelings so naturally but yet with such strength. Personally, I was really moved by his acting and I think he is the real star of this film. The fact that this was his first film also helps because you don't have any preconception about his work... he is like a white canvas that starts creating beautiful paintings... yeah it sounds corny, but couldn't explain it any better. A pleasure to watch perform and a young actor to keep an eye on.
Congratulations!

Ditto! The movie was impressive but Tom Holland was extraordinary.
He's got a bright future ahead of him.

it helps that he's played Billy Elliot on stage for some years... A pity that he'll be undershadowed by the big names, come Awards season.

Completely agree, his delivery was outstanding. The film gained so much emotion and realism thanks to his performance that it's hard to believe this is his first film!
Looking forward to seeing the rest of his work in the years to come, without a doubt the best upcoming actor right now in my opinion.

I'm going to watch The Impossible because of him! My sister saw a screening of the film and told me that I have to watch the movie for Tom Holland as an actor. The movie comes out here in Canada on January 11, 2013 so I can't wait to see it as soon as it comes out!

I hate how the studio is misleading the film, Watts is NOT the lead, Holland carries 75% of the film on his shoulders and delivers, by far, the best performance in the film. Watts and McGregor were both wonderful, but Holland just blew them both away with his performance.

It reminds me last year with Hunter McCracken in The Tree of Life. He was overshadowed by Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain because they're adults and big names, despite the fact that he was easily the best in show.

^Agreed. Tom IS the movie.

Right now, we are alive... And in this moment, I swear... We are infinite.

This is absolutely true, I kept thinking throughout the film how great this kid was.
