My first choice for Mary Jane
She should have been cast for The Amazing Spiderman 2
shareI think she would have been a perfect MJ and a much better option than Shailene Woodley. I have a feeling, however, that her mild resemblance to Emma Stone probably disqualified her for the role since it is a casting rule never to cast two actresses that look even just a little similar. Apparently, it confuses the male audience, lol.
There are few things as fetching as a bruised ego on a beautiful angel.
Hair dye or a wig could have fixed that.
shareIt's probably true that her resemblance with Stone let her apart from the role, but if you see Gwen and MaryJane in the comic-books, mainly in the Romita era, they look alike a lot, except for the hair color. That resemblance, in my opinion, should have been one more reason to choose Jane as MJ.
shareYeah, as a long-time Spidey fan, it amuses me when people talk about how the actress playing MJ has to make Emma Stone look ugly in comparison, since during the period of time when they were both in the comic, they were drawn so very much alike. MJ was pretty much Gwen with red hair and no headband.
shareShe would've made a perfect MJ, who is supposed to be a stunning redhead, much like Jane.
"What the world needs is more geniuses with humility, there are so few of us left."
Yet Shailene's mild resemblance to Andrew Garfield is overlooked.
I'm not ugly. I'm avant-garde
I'm kind of glad she hasn't yet relegated herself to a comic book movie.
Would like to see her tackle some original roles following the success of 'Evil Dead.'
I'd like to see her do a sci-fi film.
I don't think facially she looks anything like Emma Stone, it's just the both have red hair and given that Emma Stone is blonde in Spiderman anyway, they wouldn't have looked that much alike. But yes, Jane Levy would have been a great Mary Jane.

Agreed 1000%
