Cute in the JC Penney ad

I'm not one to celebrate advertising but I'm nicely surprised to see her doing a JC Penney's ad.
Just a silly, short, simple ad where she plays the ukulele and sings Happy Birthday (for some reason as Penny James if you look quickly).
But she beams this great smile and I'm glad she gets a little extra coin in her bank and hope she is able to keep up her career as a performer and comedian.

Now she has a second JCP ad ! Hey baby, she's on a roll !
Much as I don't care for advertising in general, it's nice to see her, the ads aren't offensive, and I'm glad she's getting paid.
Not sure what it means for exposure, but she seems like a nice gal. Great smile.

Hopefully this is just one step in broadening her audience past SNL fans, and she’ll start doing movies soon. I’m looking forward to the next phase of her career where she isn’t limited by sketch structure.

This is a tough road, for sure. Many are called, few are chosen.
I never gave her much thought until the first JCP ad, (most cast members of SNL have some sort of appeal, of course).
But she came off so bright and cheerful and guileless, and for someone with a recognizable profile, I wanted to give her a little shout out. Not in the sense of helping her career (I don't imagine I'm any sort of influencer) but just send out some appreciation for someone I recognize from a different setting.
All the best to Melissa V !
