Is she 'hard of hearing'?

If so, I'm sorry but if she doesn't have either a disease or a natural impediment, there is no reason for her not to enunciate. It almost sounds like she's going for the "little girl" dialect, and thats a bit creepy...
I would think the director of Betrayal would encourage her to "sound out" her lines prior to the first take but maybe the intended bit is vulnerable little girl being naughty for the first time... I half expect her Boss to grab her by the scruff of the neck and tell her to "Woman up"!
She is quite striking but when she starts to speak the allure, for me, is lost. I would really like to hear your thoughts on her choice to speak in "victim" and if you think is as farcical as I , and if you think her choice is just that of a lazy tongue or physical challenge.
Some would say she is just ment to be eye candy and better silent but I think part of a whole desirable package includes the willingness to express oneself my clearly and without verbal distraction. Is it just time for me to clean my ear trumpet?

Hmmm...I can sort of see where you are coming from. I'm not sure if you're aware, though, but she is British. So, any apparent impediment might be because she has difficulty translating her British accent to an American one. Either way, I don't think it's distracting enough for me to not enjoy her acting. I also think that both her and Stuart Townsend are quite mesmerizing to watch, so any flaws they may have are all forgiven. Betrayal is the only guilty pleasure I have this season, and I thank Hannah Ware and Stuart Townsend for bringing such entertainment.

If you watch her more recent interviews, I get the impression that's she's intelligent and very insightful about the character she plays. So I disagree that she's only on the show for eye candy. I was actually wondering why this woman hasn't been on any more movies or TV shows. Does her resume seriously only have about 5 or so different works? I find that hard to believe.

You might like "Boss? where Hanna Ware plays the addicted, damaged daughter to Kelsey Grammer... Several seasons all of course available on the "net". It may be my predisposed prejudice from seeing her in that character, that leads me to see her as playing up the victim voice. I look froward to more episodes of Betrayal and hope that if this is the voice she's found, I get past my disdane. I don't see her choices in Betrayal as those of a victim, just a" Randy" gal who wants a Lil strange..
It was/is nice to hear someone's opinion, especially when you didn't seem to have to bash me for having one that differs from yours

I don't think she sounds hard of hearing. I think she's just not good at hiding her British accent. It came through on tonight's episode.

I agree femmepinay, great post! I think we Americans have no clue how hard it is to change over to an accent. Yes her native tongue comes through every once in a while but she's a very good actress in my opinion. She has the right facial expressions when she's expressing her feelings. The tears that streamed down her face as she was leaving her sisters was so darn believable and her tone is accurate plus she brings the emotion so well. In a nutshell she is believable, talented and down right beautiful in my book, which doesn't count half the time haha but I think her critics are way too harsh on her.

You're correct. I think some good porn with sumpin' stuck in 'er mouth....
