Yeah, it really is surprising. Emilia Clarke is cute, pretty and really cute but not a raving beauty... but Danerys Targaryan IS a raving beauty!
I don't know what the difference is, but I find it interesting that Emelia Clarke is content to remain cute and pretty in real life. I presume that if she went around with bleach-blonde hair and a deep tan, she would look as glam as she did on the show and maybe get more work as an actor, but she doesn't do it.
