Thanks for the info.

Didn't see the original. Kind of surprised that this will be his big foray into Hollywood,

Is this a movie begging to be remade?

reply

I did see the original and I thought it was great. It was a horror/thriller movie but it had depth too, and even a moral. I'm not too keen on remakes and honestly, I was not interested on seeing it until I read this piece of news today, lol. I kind of hope James plays a character like that of Kiefer Sutherland, that was the leader of the pack and a tortured soul; the most interesting character in the original. But, let's see! :-)

reply

Now I'm intrigued (if you say it was great).

Actually, this remake could be called Flatliners, Diversity Version

James Norton (British)

Nina Dobrev (Bulgarian)

Diego Luna (Mexican)

Ellen Page & Kiersey Clemons (ho hum) American. (but Double Diversity with Page [LGBT] and Clemons [Afro-American]

Director: Niels Arden Oplev (Danish)

What, no Asians? Will one of the actresses be wearing a head scarf?

(I'm glad they slipped in that Brit)

It certainly reflects the global nature of film today...

reply

Nina Dobrev and Ellen Page are actually Canadian.

Nothing wrong with reflecting the "global nature of film" today, although I'd hardly call this cast of mostly white people "diverse". (Sorry to feed the troll...)

reply

IMDB has Nina's birthplace in Bulgaria. Ellen Page is Canadian! Even more diverse: woman, Canadian, gay.

Am I the troll you are feeding? If so, what's for lunch?

reply

He could have done much better tbh. Maybe he should hire Domnhall Gleeson's agent.

reply

Hi working_girl,

He'd announced he'd being coming to L.A. after his run in the play, Bug, ended. He didn't mention the project, but now we know. I think he'll be terrific.

reply

I'll watch this for James, but this looks like the kind of movie that will flop and pass into the realm of forgotten horror flicks starring up-and-coming Brits in their Hollywood debut... Oh well, it's a stepping stone, I guess. And maybe it will actually be good?
