James to join cast of Hampstead movie

Curious though. I would have thought he would have been snapped up for a big Harvey Weinstein film project. (But maybe not, because War and Peace was a ratings dud in the U.S.....)

If JN dreams of one day being considered for the role of James Bond, I can't see these projects getting him there.

It could end up that after all, JN will remain a great Brit TV actor....and not a movie star. No shame in that.

I guess my disappointment comes because his TV roles have been so diverse and exciting and these movie roles sound ....underwhelming. He certainly has the talent and charisma to be a movie star. Oh, well. As you say, I look forward to seeing him on the big screen no matter what. And maybe he will be brilliant in these roles.

I think with Hollywood, you just have to get your foot in the door and work your way up. Perhaps these roles are him getting his foot in the door. I'm sure the better roles will come.

True. It's hard to believe that JN is a relative unknown in the U.S.: Grantchester is a "niche" PBS series with a small but devoted following, etc. Also, the competition for roles must be fierce and there are so many fabulous young British actors now gobbling up roles in U.S. movies and TV series. (Is there a factory in England where they are cloning these actors?)
