The public are stupid. The 2022 Russo-Ukrainian War is the same one from 2014
The 'first war between them never ended. Why all the crybabying and laughable ''ban Russia'' snowflaking NOW?
Individual and National acts of kindness for those suffering doesn't change the recent history of Ukraine and Russia. People really are blind and simpering (ie. let's ban this, let's hate Russia/Putin, etc, etc)
Russia has ALREADY warred with the Ukraine, in 2014 which is STILL ongoing!
NATO is almost always American led and commanded, is funded chiefly by the US ($6.85 TRillion); UK ($655.27 Billion); Germany ($491.32 Billion); France ($477.05 Billion); Italy ($232.81 Billion); Canada ($212.77 Billion); Turkey ($180.00 Billion); Spain ($123.36 Billion); Poland ($113.76 Billion) and Netherlands ($113.60 Billion)
The West/NATO have been aggressively expanding eastwards, enticing eastern European nations to become part of NATO (ie. the Bucharest Summit in April 2008, which directly encouraged them). Does the West seriously think they can just expand NATO up to Russia's border and she will do… nothing?
Putin, a thug who has/is ruling his kleptocracy with a fist of iron where reporters go missing or turn up dead, has emphatically and repeatedly warned the EU and NATO that any nation close to his borders that does this, it is a huge No, no.
(Just as the US did with Cuba receiving Soviet missiles in 1963 as per the Monroe Doctrine)
When the ‘invited’ nations then become confidently aggressive with Russia (ie. Chechyna 1999-2009 and Georgia 2008), they get attacked - just as the US/West would – ie. Cuba in ’63 and Falklands in ‘82).
Ukraine’s populous is HALF RUSSIAN. Their Politics there is deeply corrupt (also involving neo-Nazi factions) and there are always Civil tensions why in 2013 Yanukovych turned down a huge dollar deal from the EU in favour of closer economic ties with Russia (much less than Putin's $15bn rejected deal) - HUGE protests and deaths in Ukraine - 2014 coup after Yanukovych flees the country.
Russia seizes the Crimea and escalated the Donbas War (part of the larger Russo-Ukranian War) in 2014.
Russia invades northern and eastern Ukraine in early 2022. With many failed EU/Western summits (ie. Minsk Protocol) and many 2021 Russian-Ukraine border military build-ups and downscales later in a deteriorating Political climate!
We may need Russia as an ally or counter-balance against China in the South Sea – the US’s new no.1 enemy/rival and foreign policy priority.
Putin is crazy?
“No, anyone who says so is not worth debating” says Prof John J. Mearsheimer, the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor in Political Science and Co-Director of the Program on International Security Policy at the University of Chicago.
