Electoral College Petition

I respect Gaga as a songwriter, performer, and artist. Very much so. But this makes me very suspicious of her as a political commentator. Maybe her heart is truly in it, and maybe she's just placating her hoards of fans, many of whom are completely ignorant of such matters, and are simple sheep flocking to George Soros. I don't know. I can't know her mind.

However, surely she must realize that the electoral college exists for a reason. Electors are there to represent THEIR STATE. Asking them to forgo the electoral process, and cast their electoral vote for the losing candidate, simply because she won the popular vote nationwide, goes against that purpose, and is therefore wrong. To do so would mean the electors are representing voters in OTHER states (mostly California and New York.......mostly.....).

Is that right? Of course not. She should not have signed this petition. She should not be encouraging others to do so. The electors vote based on the voting results in their state. That is their purpose. Let it be. If she thinks the current electoral system unfair, that's fine. She should lobby to change it, and come up with something better. That's the American Way. But petitioning to overturn an election, conducted in accordance with the rules in place, simply because she didn't like the outcome, is NOT American. That's wrong. Very wrong. We've had 200+ years of uninterrupted peaceful transitions of Presidential power in this country, precisely because people understand how important it is. She needs to stop this, if anybody is to take her seriously as a political voice.

Again, it may all be to please her fans, and nothing more. Still not right, but also not that big of a deal. But if she's true believer in the righteousness of this method, she's got troubles. I invite open and honest discussion and debate. But please, be respectful. I'll endeavor to do the same.

Hey, Lady Gagger, I'm glad Hillary lost. It was a great day for the Republic! Get used to seeing Donald J. Trump as President.

Have yourself a good cry and a cup of cocoa.
