Underrated

it's really depressing seeing how lovely someone can be, and how little attention they garner.

she may not have the biggest role, but she's still a good actress.

Yes, I agree. The Vampire Diaries is the first show I can recall seeing Sara Canning on, but then as I started watching it, I realised she was also on Smallville for two episodes in Season 8 around the same time.

I have grown to really like/care about her character on TVD. I know that, for other people, she probably doesn't even register, but for me she's a breath of fresh air amongst all the vampires, werewolves, witches, vampire hunters, magic ring-wearers, etc on the show. I like that she has no special powers or magic rings or whatever, that she's just a regular human on the show (basically it's just her and Matt now, as Elena's kind of 'special' - in that she's the main heroine of the show/the doppleganger - and Jeremy has a ring, as does John). What I like about her is how easy-going she is. Okay, she might not be the best parental figure ever, but that's kinda why I love her. So many parent characters on shows I've watched have the same old boring personality, and it gets tiresome. Jenna's cool, and while she doesn't get a lot of screentime, I do like it whenever she is onscreen.

I think Sara Canning does a really good job in the role, and they've been giving her some solid material to work with of late. She's gave an excellent portrayal of Jenna finding out that she's the last to know about everything that's been going on. I really enjoyed seeing her reacting to learning the truth. We've kind of gotten so used to just about everybody in the show knowing about vampires etc, that it's always fun to see a character let in on the 'secret' and their reaction to it for the first time.

I had really hated the fact that Jenna was the last to find out, so it's a relief now that she knows. Obviously there's still more for her to find out about, but I look forward to seeing how she reacts to further information.

I very much enjoy her interaction with all the characters (especially Elena, Damon, Stefan, John and obviously Alaric). While the other characters have clearly defined dynamics with each other, I think we're still sort of discovering Jenna's dynamics with some of them. Like, for example, up until the most recent ep, I couldn't really recall having Jenna and Stefan in that many scenes together (though I may have just forgotten them). All the other characters have something that stands out about them, and while Jenna might not have anything exactly 'special' about her that stands out - that's sort of why I love her. I keep fearing for her, thinking she's going to be offed any old time now...and yet she still lives on. I guess we'll see how long this lasts. I just hope she does continue to survive and the writers explore her character more/give her character a chance to define herself more and create new relationships/dynamics with the other different characters now that she's in the loop.

I personally would be very sad if Jenna were killed off. I realise it will probably happen sooner or later, but I just hope we get to spend more time exploring her character before they off her.
