This Is Us

I've been wondering the same thing. When I found out they were the same person I was absolutely shocked. Honestly it's the reason I came on the message boards today because it was driving me nuts again. I was hoping it'd say on here or under trivia but I haven't found a thing. I was wondering how it was possible for someone to so drastically change when it comes to shows that were released months apart.

You know, now that I think about it; Toby was meant to be losing weight a lot quicker than Kate on this is us. Recently I read somewhere Chrissy Metz said she had to, by contractual obligation, lose weight in trajectory with Kate. That'd be easier to do if your character is losing weight slowly. But in his case, Toby was losing weight fast. I suppose it'd make sense to cast a less overweight actor and pad him, then remove the padding as the character gets thinner rather than actually expect someone to lose a lot of weight quickly. If I had to venture a guess, he was in a suit and it gets smaller each time tiny loses a bigger amount of weight, opposed to Chrissy who has to drop a pound or two every couple weeks in real life. I think that makes sense anyway.

Yeah, that does makes sense. And if you see pics of Toby with his shirt unbuttoned, but wearing a t-shirt, you can see the thick lining right below his neckline.

I just saw him on a talk show this morning and he said that he wears a padded suit that adds approximately 150 additional pounds... was shocked as I have not seen him outside of this show.
