So... You're worried about "love scenes" in a PG-13 Superhero movie...

...

...

Really?

He looks 18. But rarely are teens in movies actually played by teens.

Apparently he is 6 foot, but he looks tiny.

Good god. Had to go to the dark place. Lol.

But seriously, I was just going to post the same thing. He looks WAY too young. Not to mention his threadbare filmography. With Tobey and Sir Mumbles the age was spot on, at least for those films.

Why not go with a mid 20's Spidey? Or at least someone that looks like they can vote.

Are you kidding? Tobey Maguire was 25 and Andrew Garfield was 27 when they played Spider-Man for the first time. That is way too old to play a teenager convincingly.

Technically we already had that with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. I know that they officially played the teenage Spider-Man, but they never really looked like that. By casting a real life teenager, you can at least bring much more authenticity to this aspect. Specially when you put him next to the Avengers, which is the point of this whole reboot.

Or at least someone that looks like they can vote.
15/16 year olds can't vote. So why choose an actor who looks like he can vote?

The most authentic actor to play a 15/16 year old is someone who looks like he came from a huge growth spurt recently, because this is what most guys go through at that age. If you look at Asa Butterfield in person, you will see that this is exactly how he looks.

Threadbare filmography?. Have you actually seen the films he has done? Boy with the Striped Pyjamas, Hugo, Enders Game... I mean come on! Sure he may look young, but I think he's an inspired choice for the webslinger.
