i've read somewhere that this girl "kaya scodelario" is being considered as katniss. so i googled her and all i can say is--- i would have to agree. at first glance, she is very katniss. her facial features just kinda give off that vibe.

I've seen most of her work, and agree that she would make for an inspired choice--it would be a great boost for her career. She's really talented, and I'm glad that she's in the running for the part.

agree. she looks the part MUCH more than this other girl. jennifer lawrence's body type is all wrong and she looks much to old. i'm gunna go see it and am excited, but am ultimately disappointed in who they chose as the lead.

shareI think Jennifer Lawrence was chosen because she was an up and coming A-lister who already had an Oscar nod under her belt as well as a steady fan base.
Kaya would have been better. Physically, Jennifer is just too curvy for the role. I am not saying Jen is fat because she's clearly not and has an amazing body that any girl would be jealous of. However, Katniss and everyone else in the Seam are supposed to be nearly emaciated. Kaya is very thin and has the right body type for it. Jennifer just has too womanly of a body which ends up making Katniss look much older than she should be.
Jennifer and Kaya are around the same age but Kaya looks MUCH younger than Jen. Kaya still looks about 15-16 while Jennifer looks easily 26. The age wouldn't have been a problem if Josh didn't look so young. But, the fact that Josh looks about 17 makes the whole Peeta/Katniss relationship seem a little forced and awkward.
Anyways, I think Kaya would have been great. Jennifer did a fantastic job but Kaya fits the role so well.
Also, to me, I think she gives off the "tough" vibe where she could play a character like Katniss. She does the rebel child so well as Effie.

^ I agree! I love JLaw and she is beautiful, but realistically, Katniss was thin and frail from lack of food. When I read the books I immediately picture Kaya, due to her role as Effy, which was gritty and Katniss-like. Still bummed she wasn't picked.
shareI love Kaya, and I think she would have been a good Katniss, but Jennifer Lawrence was a fantastic choice. Katniss isn't thin and frail. Since she's been hunting her whole life, she's strong, durable, and one of the more well-fed residents of District 12.
