The Latin sexy gene (?)

There are gorgeous women all around the world, and I really don't like going into debates about who's the better-looking one. First, because it's subjective, but also, because it's subjective over time, as the women (or men, for those who prefer/like them) you thought were bombshells one day can be merely ok later on.

But what about sexiness ? I was watching Kaya's scenes from "Skins", and, man, she's beautiful, but more important to the point I'm trying to make, she's magnetic. For those of you that have seen Lars Von Trier's "Nymphomaniac" (in which she ISN'T CAST), she has, for me, that characteristic from the young protagonist, where she could seduce a happily married man on his way to see his wife.

And I was noticing that the women I find sexiest all have a Latin heritage, but then again, I'm Brazilian. So, is there a "sexy" gene, which young Kaya has in spades, or are we talking about cultural resemblance ?

reply

Kaya was born in London.

Her mother, Katia Scodelario, is Brazilian, and moved to England in 1990.

Her father, Roger Humphrey, was English. Her parents divorced when she was a child and she was brought up by her mother, subsequently adopting her surname and becoming fluent in Portuguese.

She may be Latin distantly or by name but she looks just like an English rose.

The name Scodelario is of Italian-Catalan descent, not Portuguese.

The northwest coast of Spain was conquered by the Barca clan from Carthage. They established a kingdom stretching from Montpellier to Murcia. During the Second Punic War the town that bore their name was completely razed by the Romans. They rebuilt the town as a port, it became a prosperous city but the Barca name was erased. It became Barcelona with the establishment of the Kingdom of Aragon during the reconquest of Iberia from the Moors.

Scodelario is a fairly common name in Catalunya, Sardinia (part of the Kingdom of Aragon) and North West Italy (Piedmont,Liguria).

Although not named here's it's origins:

It doesn't matter what's in her "genes" because she only inherited an English look. That look is what everyone is fawning over and none of it is a Latin trait. Thus, if the Latin sexy gene exists, it does not apply here as so why she looks sexy.

reply

I totally disagree, her look is straight out of Barcelona. Have you ever visited that city, trust me the women there are SEXY. And they are just as attractive in the other two cities where the name is prevalent: Torino and Cagliari.
