She isn't a "thing" she is an "actress", can you see the difference? She is hired to do a job, she does it. If a company fails do you blame all the employees, or do you blame the members of management? Same with a movie.

The OP sounds very much like an omnipresent troll across the internet who thinks they are an expert on the industry. Note the obsession with "marketing costs" and profits!

๐Ÿ˜‚So for you a good actress mean actress playing in hits?๐Ÿ˜‚ You have no idea about good movie and talent.

Oh that's right... white privilege Well, that settles it. This is apparently a race issue. At least that's new on this board, well not really, only the other way around. It just took one look at your post history to find the same rant on the The Birth of a Nation board, and Wahlberg vs. Nate Parker.

None of the films you have mentioned is a flop, and The Light Between Oceans hasn't even premiered yet in half of the countries, Sweden for example. Ex Machina went directly to DVD in Sweden and had few theatres which actually showed it. Her screen time in The Fifth Estate is about 5 minutes. The Danish girl isn't produced by one of the giants such as Universal, Fox, and has obviously not the same economic opportunities for promotion. And despite that, she won an Oscar for the role.

If all films would be flops just because they're not a hit at the box office, that would be just as tragic as your post is. So, get back to me when this REALLY is about race.

I think you overestimate her. She is NOT a thing even after she won an Oscar. She'll vanish within five or six years.

100m to market bourne?! Is hat accurate? Is a movie that makes close to $200m considered a flop? I lile pocket from some of those plots!

They think she is still bankable.
A few more flops and she'd start packing. The only reminder of Hwood would be her Oscar and the casting couch.
