her as katara

i think she did excellent, sure, she doesnt look quite the same as the girl from the cartoon, but its not that bad. besides, who cares if shes white, dark, or whatever. it should be about how their acting was

as katara, i gave her a 9/10

i agree, i havent seen the show but i thought she did excellent for her biggest movie. I definitely connected to her, how i might have in the show. and just to humor myself, i compared the way she looked in this to the tv show counterpart, and i definitely saw alot of similarity..so i think they did a good job with her design in the film.

reply

i thought so too. people judge the movie so harshly cause its different from the cartoon, but they forget 3 big things:

1.) it went from cartoon to live action film, so things always change

2.) animated cartoons are easy; its all done by computer, live action movies have budgets and limits.

3.) its alot easier to do a voice in a cartoon as opposed to real life when you have to actually act and move with the scene

reply

It should DEFINITELY be based on how well the acting was.

And hers was god awful, there you go.

I'll join you when hell freezes over.

god awful? no.

amazing? not quite

but it was her first big movie, and if memory serves, her first movie at all, give her some slack

I originally didn't have a basis of comparison in my first post regarding Nicola Peltz's performance as Katara but.
..i've NOW seen the first season (book1: water) of the tv series and finally have a basis for comparison. Unfortunately, i do have to say that the actress didn't get the character really.
for some reason, and I don't know whether it was M. Night's doing as director or the poor character developed-script, but movie Katara was very restrained and gloomy, and very one-noted. In the tv series, she's very sure of herself and headstrong but always smiling and supportive of Aang and her brother. actress Nicola certainly LOOKED the part but i'm not sure the character translated well in the movie.

Then you are either a disingenuous troll, or you have never seen good acting in your entire life.

reply

Can a person act "hysterically?"
She seemed to waiver between the verge of tears and "wooden board" for the whole movie.

reply

She done well, and for a new ish actor i think she done very well,
and considering the bad scrip, she done excellent :D
