My observation has been that those on the right believe that everyone ought to be allowed to speak about anything, and share any opinion publicly, other than when safety is involved, without repercussion, yelling "fire!" in a crowded theater being the classic example of where the line is drawn. On the left, the view seems to be that speaking only opinions that they agree with is permissible, and saying anything contrary justifies being fired, evicted, punched, killed, jailed, or otherwise "canceled."
