The Holocaust did NOT start with armed SS guards loading all the Jews of Germany in trains and sending them off to the death camps. It started with a media campaign to slander and defame Jews. Jews were demonized for years before the levels of hate were sufficient for the exterminations to be accepted. They were insulted and mocked and denied access to the marketplace and banned from mainstream German life LONG before they were interned in camps.
