Ok, Karen is a fantastic actress and I'm glad she got her own US sitcom. But WHY did they have her do an American accent? Her regular accent would have been just fine. America is mature enough to handle her normal Scottish accent.
Well in the show (Selfie) her character is meant to be a typical self-obsessed social media playgirl. Having an American accent is kind of a big part of that. When someone has a foreign accent, we Americans tend to ascribe different characteristics to them, so her character would have been a little off for us.
Usually I hate it when actors have to lose their gorgeous accents for roles, but in this case, I do think it was necessary.
America is not. Nobody likes anything than american stuff in America.
