What's wrong with her voice?

I've been wondering about her voice, too. I haven't seen her in anything before Under The Dome so I don't have anything to compare it to and I had been wondering if she had a cold but she's sounded raspy for weeks now. I wonder if someone who's familiar with her past work can tell us if she's always sounded like that.

She sounds really, really adenoidal.

She is bilingual,born in Cuba,lives in Miami. I do not think anything is wrong with her vocal cords.Just the way she talks.

Yeah, I'm glad I found this thread, as after a few episodes of this I was gonna ask the same question. Sounds like she always has laryngitis. Hey, she might be into shouting and screaming a lot - who knows?

I wish her well, but hope she gets it properly checked over, and surely she's had some sort of feedback from viewers, or the producers about it! I agree with nanafee's point about it taking away my focus on the content of her speech, and wondering what's wrong with her voice. I now watch Under The Dome with the subtitles on. A bit drastic? Maybe, but it works for me!

Another show I did the subtitles thing for was Hannibal. Great actor, but could I hell understand was he was saying most of the time. Gave up halfway through the series. My loss I guess.

So right on! I couldn't take it, I had to fast forward her parts in Secrets & Lies, plot points be damned! made it incredibly hard to believe this guy risked his life and family for THIS woman?!? Marge Simpson Lite!

I wonder the same thing. She can bare make sound. Too much throat working?
