Stupidest Comment on Sexuality Ever Stated. Ever.

In wanting to be "honest" about his sexuality, given he plays both straight and gay
characters extremely well, this up and coming star stated the following about his
own orientation:

"I recognize myself as existing on that spectrum: Not totally straight, but also not gay
and not necessarily bisexual."

If you're straight, you're straight, if you're gay or bi and don't wish to open up, that's
cool, too. But, please, this statement says NOTHING and puts this talented actor on
the continuing bandwagon of nonsensical jargon that is dribbling out of an increasing
number of "pansexual" celebrities. It's childish and embarrassing.

He was either saying he's bi or testing the waters about coming out fully.

Despite an increasing open attitude towards gays, we live in a very homophobic society. He may have been trying to protect his career.

Nevertheless, the comment is ridiculous and makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I think he's a terrific young talent, and feel his sexuality is absolutely nobody's business. But his statement rings
in with the current absurd trend of blurring the lines so intensely that many celebs (especially females) are
all but saying there is no such thing as sexual identity. Pure rubbish.

Gay people have fought for decades to be recognized as people whose sexuality is IN-BORN, not some frivolous,
irresponsible "choice."

Again, truly one of the silliest comments on personal sexuality ever stated.

He's young. You make very good points. I've never had any issues with gays either.

He may have been deliberately ambiguous to ward off questions about his private life while trying to further his career.

He's part of the Hollyweird Elite. Being homo gets him tons of publicity and job offers. Trans ever more.

Oh right, yeah like all those openly gay box office drawcards… like…. ummm… yeah… help me out here Satan… I’m struggling to think of a SINGLE gay man who has benefited in Hollywood by coming out. Certainly not one who has any aspirations of being a leading man. The public will readily accept a straight man playing a gay character but the reverse is as rare as NPH on that awful sitcom.

Perhaps engage the brain before the fingers next time 🤷‍♂️

Who even says he's gay? I don't get any particular vibe from him. He's played both gay and straight characters
extremely well. But no matter WHAT he is, he was BORN that way, and his statement is pure nonsense.

Could it possibly be that he was actually being frank and honest about his own ambiguous feelings towards his sexuality? I dare say there are plenty of straight men who at one time or another have felt curious about homosexuality. Perhaps that was just his way of contextualising a feeling most people wouldn’t speak about publicly. Granted, I can see how it might seem too vaguely cryptic for someone wanting a definitive statement, but I don’t find the statement childish or embarrassing at all. I certainly don’t think those words infer that sexuality is a choice, just maybe that’s it’s not as black and white for some people, like Hedges apparently.

Personally I couldn’t care less who he is attracted to. As an artist he is truly remarkable and that’s why I admire the young man so much. No statement he makes about his sexuality could change that.
