Box office poison!

Someone in Hollywood; be it his agents or the studios, are desperately trying to convince the world that this guy is the next break out movie star. Sadly, its just not working. He's starred in 3 massive flops since doing The Social Network. Mirror, Mirror, J.Edgar, and now Lone Ranger barely broke even. By no means did these films flop because of him, but he didn't exactly help AT ALL. He has no box office weight and the studios aren't going to keep taking chances with him if he can't ensure some type of profit.

He may have been able to buy a good agent but that won't give make him the talent, charisma, likability or star quality it takes to become a movie star.

They weren't leading roles, and even though he does play the title character, he's bascially playing second fiddle to Johnny Depp. If The Man from UNCLE flops then you've got a vaild point. I do agree he is dangerously close to Taylor Kitsch territory but to me UNCLE will be the film to see if he can pull through like Clooney who has talent, charisma, likability but that didn't stop his movies like One Fine Day, The Peacemaker and Batman And Robin from becoming flops when he tried to break into film.

I was actually thinking about this while watching J Edgar. His career moved so fast after the social network .. They basically tried to make him happen giving him all these big roles along side huge stars and directors. The fact that all of his movies have flopped or underperformed is not good. He will be joining that list with Taylor Kasch and Alex Pettyfer.. both given huge roles and failed.. he can still have a decent career but I think he needs to ditch the big roles and earn acolytes doing indie films ....

@MixSwiss

acolytes? did you say....he needed to ditch the big roles and earn....

acolytes? oh dear. why do i read imdb. why?

reply

Well the big roles ain't working for him.. what do you suggest??? lol and yeah he needs to gain some acolytes.. some followers, a fanbase .... And you asked why you read IMDB? You been her 11 years and you just asking that question to yourself now???? I need to use this emoticon -> not you

gioconda was referring to your spelling of accolades. An "acolyte" is "one who assists a member of the clergy in a liturgical service by performing minor duties"
Armie has plenty of accolades for his work if you read his IMDb page!
