Pick an eye!
I just watched the first season of OITNB and liked it so much more than I thought I would. This isn't the place to go on and on about all the reasons for that, but Taylor Schilling is, not surprisingly, one of the biggest reasons. I find her performance to be absolutely outstanding, especially with a role that it would be so easy to go overboard. She's really been a revelation.
MINOR SEASON ONE SPOILERS AHEAD (just in case)
That said, there's an episode in S1 in which some girls come to the Litch as part of a scared straight type program, and there's a scene in the bathroom between Piper and Dina, a girl in a wheelchair. It's a powerful scene, and Taylor's reading of it is brilliant, if you ask me. However, at one point she bends over and gets in the girl's face, and instead of focusing on only one eye, she constantly shifts her gaze between the actress' eyes, which is very distracting. If you're a movie geek like me, you listen to DVD commentaries, and I've heard on at least two of them people talking about this. You need to pick an eye (generally the one closest to the camera) and focus on that.
I know it's a small thing, but seriously, it makes a big difference.
