HOW NYONG'O IS RUINING HER ACTING CAREER

During awards season 2013 she was EVERYWHERE, always seen in a gorgeous frock. Interview after interview focused on how she was dressed instead of her projected career as an actress and she totally played into that. She overexposed herself as a fashion icon and now that is how she is primarily viewed. Was just reading an article about the fashion industry and it mentioned Nyong'o as a "luminary" without even so much as a reference to her career as an actress…because, despite her Oscar, she's now considered more of a well-dressed "personality" than someone to be taken seriously for her performances. Sadly, she has no one to blame but herself.

We'll see who is the filthiest person alive! We'll just see!

However it is also the choices in film that she makes with her films. Turning down great roles such as the whole truth, southpaw, concussion and the free state of jones. Many state that she needs a lead role in films, but she hasn't worked her way to the top. And southpaw and the whole truth would have been a great started as supporting roles. And I've heard many times that she want's lead roles in movies, so I don't understand why she turned down Concussion, and the Free State of Jones. She can do multiple things to help her career, since she has the money to do things. She can produce her own roles, can start her own production, can do television, can direct her own projects, can do stage or Broadway, or she can even do foreign films( Kenyan, French, Spanish , German, etc.).

Idk if it was scheduling but she should have taken the Concussion role. She doing a play in New York written by Danai Gurira, Michone from The Walking Dead.

I read about that play, it' seems to be on a very interesting subject matter. Hopefully Lupita will get great reviews, and she's working with a woman as the director , so this is good.

Free State of Jones is the only one that I found to be a little disappointing. Nothing against Gugu but it seems that lighter skinned black actresses always get those roles. The fact that they wanted Lupita is amazing. And they seemed so exited about the idea of getting her on board. But maybe she felt it was too early for her to play a former slave after Patsy.

Yes this usually is the case, and I found only one picture of Rachel Newton and she definitely did not look like Gugu Mbatha-Raw . She actually looked more like Lupita, which would have been very accurate. And it is very much an Oscar bait movie from what I've heard so far, so she could have been nominated for a second Oscar.
Do you like Gugu Mbatha-Raw movie's and acting? Seems to me that she chooses great roles with female directors. And I would like to see Lupita work with lots of female directors, to get the truly complex roles.

wait, how do you guys know she turned down those roles? I can see her not wanting to do another slave film, and I do know she was in talks to play in Southpaw, but how do you know she turned it down and it was not due to scheduling conflicts or some other reason?
