His accents what made Chuck Bass interesting. An American in that role wouldn't be the same

What accent?! He has no accent in the show. Did you not watch it or what?!

I take it to mean the fact that he's a brit and his interpretation of an UES is what made the character what he is. I, like many, didn't realize he wasn't American until after hearing him in an interview. By that time, through Netflix, I was already 3 seasons in.
