I'll be happy for him if he gets one but I'm in sort of two minds about whether he's truly deserving.
On one hand, he's come in and totally owned the show with his musical performances. Glee would die if the actors didn't sell the emotion behind each song and clearly Criss has an abundance of natural talent in doing so.
But when it comes to dialogue and scenes, he hasn't been given a great deal to do and when he has, to be quite honest, he's pretty stilted. His phrasing and timing just seems a bit off sometimes. He's incredible at acting through song but he just doesn't seem comfortable when there's no music backing him up.
And you know what, it really surprises me because he's bloody fantastic in the Potter musicals. He showed huge potential as both a dramatic and comedic actor even in the non singing parts and it really astounds me how he can seem so awkward sometimes on Glee. I understand theatre is a completely different medium to film but the difference in quality is quite astronomical.
But yeah, he probably will get a nomination and I will be happy for him because I think he's phenominally talented and has brought a heap to Glee in terms of musical performance. I just wish I was more impressed on the acting front.
