R8

It is a shame none of the singles from this album really took off. I think this is the worst era she has ever had. She should just scrap R8 and make another album and take a new direction.

Has it really been almost 3 years since Unapologetic?? Wow.

Must dash. I forgot to feed my wombat.

I'm not a hardcore fan or anything, but I have some friends that are and we can agree that one of the reasons why her new era sucked, was because she sort of diss her previous albums. She stated that with her new album she wanted to make timeless soulful songs that she would enjoy performing for the rest of her career. She claimed that she didn't like performing most of her old songs because she had no connection to them.

With everything she said, I think a lot of us were expecting her to release very soulful and timeless songs, whatever that means to this era's music. She hyped up her new album's era by making it appear more artistic and original. Then BBHMM comes out which was a complete slap on the face since the song is both lyrically and musically generic and dumb. It almost felt like one of the reject songs from either her R album or Unapologetic. Just because you're cussing and have less instruments on the song, doesn't make it timeless and soulful. Her songs like Stay and Diamonds are beyond more artistic and soulful than BBHMM. Even Umbrella stands to be a more timeless song than BBHMM would ever be.

So yeah, plus her disturbing music video in which she's completely naked and beating a naked blond girl, didn't help much at all. I can see that she's bored and wanting to push the limits even more, but she went a little too far. It's not like rappers haven't released dirty music videos with dirty songs and naked chicks. So she's not doing anything new. But she was on a good path her other "grown up" albums such as R, Talk That Talk, and Unapologetic. At least they had a lot of single's material. Her two singles off her new unreleased album are not single material at all and clearly it shows as they haven't charted.
