she should fire the agent that booked her for Battleship

Not just the movie itself, but the role did not suit her at all. It was truly painful watching her try to "act", in a way that was absolutely impossible for her to pull off. The character itself was lame anyways, and it looked like Rihanna didn't really know what to do other than recite her lines in the most convincing and confident way.

She should try to emulate Thandie Newton, because i think she has the class and the looks to match her, as well as the grace to pull off those roles such as in movies like RocknRolla, a well received and smartly directed comedy action, Pursuit of Happiness a critically acclaimed drama, or even in the first Riddick movie where she just plays an exotic looking female character. Please, anything but some tough Navy tomboy..

An agent can only submit their clients for roles; the actual OFFER comes from the film-makers. And I didn't see Battleship, but being in it doesn't seem to be hurting her career. Maybe if she did something musically-related in a movie (think "8 Mile"), that would be more suited for her?

She was allegedly cast in Battleship because the military-obsessed director of the movie saw the news about her getting beat up by Chris Brown, meaning that Rihanna just survived something a soldier might in Afghanistan or Vietnam. For context, Battleship also had a real-life double-amputee military veteran play a badass soldier who had a climactic fight scene with an alien.
