what happened to her?

she used to make nice music and seemed like a quiet girl when she started

She became beyond confident and arrogant when it came to her music. For the longest time, she could do no wrong. She started as a cute teen singing R&B/Pop music. Then she had more attention in 2007 with Good Girl Gone Bad album. She began releasing albums almost every year after that and her singles were always on the radio. When it was not a single from her album, she was featured in some other artist single. She pushed the limits by getting more "hardcore" in her music, being more vulgar and sexual, especially after she got beat up by Chris Brown. She was attempting to show a strong woman on the outside, by cutting her hair and acting tough with very little clothes on. It reminded me of a roughed up hooker attempting to act like she can be a pimp, now.

She pretty much reached a level where the only direction she could go was getting fully nude on a music video and saying the B word every five seconds. Her BBHMM single was hyped, mostly by her, to be her most timeless and hit song to date. The song flopped mostly due to her contract with a record label that she co-owns with Jay Z and other music icons. I believe the name of it is TIDAL. Anyways, not many people were down to subscribe to that music service and so her song pretty much lost buzz.

Overall, with her previous hits and having taken a lot hiatus from music, Rihanna's comeback was supposed to be epic, but of course, when people are expecting these epic comebacks, they tend to bomb bad. She's been post postponing her album's release her fans were not 100% behind her new direction in music. I think she's a mess at the moment, not sure how to shock the music industry anymore. I think she hit her peak already and perhaps that's not something that she's willing to swallow.

She grew up.

No seriously, she's not the same 17 year old as she was when she first came out. That said, despite her new style seemingly "too abrasive" for many, she's still successful.

To me, her Anti album is pretty decent. Not as good as her old ones, but still likable.
My favorite songs from it are "Kiss it better" and "work".

I thought I was the only one to question her style of music lately. Since "work" all these senseless and brainless songs, not just from her but Beyonce and other singers, came out. The make no sense and are nothing except gibberish, sex, money and drugs. Makes me scared for the future of my generation when songs about sex, money, smoking, drinking and drugs are held as entertainment.

She comes from a culture of criminals and miscreants already.

And then she was constantly surrounded by more and embraced the drugs and xxxTHUGZZLYFExxx.

Pitiful.

So much potential, and she was enslaved by the hoodrat way.

I enjoy to different degrees some of her older stuff and Work.

Work works for her, not "I'm gonna rape and kill you *****!".
