Can't wait to see his character in Star Wars: Rogue One

I was really hoping to see Riz Ahmed in the Rogue One trailer, but it looks like he isn't in it. Still an awesome trailer! I'm sure he'll definitely be in the next one.

As a huge Star Wars fan and fellow Pakistani, it's awesome to see a Pakistani actor in a Star Wars film.

reply

yeah, he wasn't in the Jason Borne trailer either

reply

Yeah, he'll probably be playing a terrorist or something.

reply

Well obviously. He's a Rebel fighting the Empire. They get called terrorists all the time.

Perfect casting then isn't it?

Perfect casting then isn't it? Yet YOU had the audacity to call me out on my suggestion that Riz would be great portraying a comedic 'guido' type..?!!

Meanwhile....you think Riz would be perfect as a terrorist....?!??! Seriously?! 

Talk about being a racist and stereotyping a performer because of their ethnic and religious background.

Before attacking others at a message forum...next time...DO think about what YOU had previously posted. Calling others "racist", what a joke.

Wow, he blew me away in Nightcrawler, enjoying The Night of on HBO right now, and I'm really excited to see him in Rogue One. Clearly, casting directors also notice his talent. I'm also really impressed with his American accent. Other UK actors like Cumberbatch need to work on their American accents :)

Riz has always done a remarkable job with UK dialects as well as with American accents.

Even more remarkable was the fact that the TNO director refused to hire a dialogue coach for the Queens NY accent he needed for "The Night Of"! Riz mentioned this during a TNO panel interview, which is up at YouTube.

Riz had to perfect the Queens accent all on his own! I guess it didn't hurt that he spent a lot of time in Jackson Heights Queens during the shoot....as well as speaking in the Queens accent for the entire 8 month shoot...he talked about this during the Stephen Colbert interview. Riz also mentioned to Colbert....when the shoot was over and he started to speak in his normal Brit accent...some of the TNO staff asked him, "Who the hell are you?" 

Amara Karan also mentioned that Riz stayed in accent for the entire 8 months, she said she completely understood that it was "his process".

Whatever it took to keep that accent, Riz did it. He's obviously an actor who is extremely serious about his craft. Personally, I'd enjoy seeing Riz portray other ethnic groups and nationalities, such as Hispanic-Americans and Italian-Americans.

Riz will be a guest on "LIVE with Kelly" this coming Tuesday, December 6th, the show films in NYC. He'll likely be talking about "Rogue One".

I'm surprised he isn't scheduled to be on Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers or Stephen Colbert, they're also based in NYC, as is Trevor Noah's show. Riz has a lot to say about politics, he'd be wonderful on Trevor's show.

When Riz last appeared on Colbert, he was great, unfortunately it was a very short interview. I always wonder why the dullest, dumbest and least interesting performers seem to get more air time than the intelligent and engaging guests.

Kelly is usually fun, it will be interesting to see if Riz will answer any 'personal' questions she'll likely ask.

Riz doesn't like to answer questions about his personal life, he always manages to side step them. Kelly always asks her guests how their wives, husbands or children are doing. Perhaps her producers were warned in advance that asking Riz anything personal will be off limits. 

As far as personal in-depth interviews....Riz would probably run out of Howard Stern's studio!
