Yeah, everyone talks about Jake Gyllenhaal, but for me it was all Riz Ahmed. Jesus Christ that dude can act. Every single word, sound, or gesture he made was so spot on and believable I really felt like I was watching a real person and not a character. He really should have gotten a best supporting actor nomination for that, absolutely textbook supporting actor performance there. He doesn't try to steal the show from the lead, he just absolutely inhabits his role so well that he adds as much authenticity to the environment as the shooting locations do, making the world the lead character inhabits that much more believable. The fact that he's not even American, actually from Pakistan/England, just makes the acting even more impressive. That dialect/accent he did was absolutely spot on. I never would have guessed he wasn't from LA.
