Hypocrites

Why do people defend morbidly obese people, calling them "beautiful," but nobody will defend a very skinny person when someone calls them anorexic? Both body types are unhealthy. Why do you people call the obese women "beautiful" and the skinny women "unhealthy?"

Nobody should make assumptions about anyone based off their body type. Some women are naturally very skinny and struggle to gain weight and some women are naturally larger and struggle to lose it. But all women should be able to feel beautiful despite what number pops up on a scale. It is very sad that people believe they have to tear down a person for the way they look without getting to know them first. So I agree with you that it's wrong for people to accuse skinny women of being anorexic and put them down as being unhealthy whether or not that's the case. It just also needs to be understood that just because someone is overweight/obese doesn't automatically mean they are an unhealthy person. There are many medical conditions that cause a person to end up overweight/obese that have nothing to do with being unhealthy and over eating. Just like there are medical conditions that prevent skinny people from being able to gain weight no matter what they eat or how much.

I doubt if anorexia and bullemia add as much to our total health care costs than obesity. Keep in mind, we all pay into one big pool for health care, whether or not it's private insureance or gov insurance. Obesity adds a LOT to our total health care costs.

By one estimate, the U.S. spent $190 billion on obesity-related health care expenses in 2005-double previous estimates.
