He really hates acting as a profession...wonder why he's still trying

His words from new interview http://www.thetimes.co.uk/magazine/the-times-magazine/jamie-dornan-im-trying-to-think-how-i-explain-what-daddy-does-for-a-living-6lh6w9t2r

I hate when actors talk about leaving behind some *beep* legacy of work: ‘Well, I’ll always have my *beep* Hamlet in Stratford.’ Shut up, shut up! Twats.

My family are doctors. My dad’s a doctor, my mum was a nurse, my stepmother’s a doctor, my uncle’s a doctor – they do jobs that really matter. I think that thing of actors taking to their grave that they never did a ‘studio film’, they didn’t ‘sell out’ … Shut up!

He considers acting a preposterous thing to do for a living, mind you. “Five per cent of all actors are employed at any time. Five per cent! What lunatic would want to do that? I’m just happy to be employed, with those statistics.”

his daughters don’t yet know what it is he does. “I’ve been thinking about how to explain what Daddy does for a living and how absurd and ridiculous it is.”

I wonder why is he still pursuing an acting career if he feels this way...that what he does for a living is worthless.

Also calling actors who want to leave something behind them 'twats' and telling them to 'shut up' really makes him sound bitter. I guess since he'll always be remembered as Christian Grey.

Yet he still uprooted his 9 month pregnant wife to Canada to be Grey, even though he currently had a job(Season 2 of The Fall) he wanted to be more than just employed he wanted the fame!

He sounds bitter that his career isn't taking off after Grey as, I suppose, he thought it would.

I doubt he hasn't got any new films to be made but I wonder why none are announced yet.

Dakota has 5 new announced and he still has none.

He said he has something in October but he also said it's nothing certain and that he can't say much about it.

Oh, and there are rumors that he will play James Bond but I really doubt he will get that role.

It was a dick move to thrash other actors enjoyment of the arts, I mean he referred to Patrick Stewart as a "twat" WTF! Even on his good day he would never be on the same level as him, I think someone's jealous that their legacy is gonna be Calvin Klein underwear model LOL!

He hates acting as you said. You are twat who couldn't get his point that he hated the fact what actors become " Attention seeker" and "egoistic". He is coming from highly educated family so obviously acting doesn't required any education as such ( especially family of doctors who save people & they are real life heroes). People around him(family & friends) are far educated then people in Hollywood.
Again his co-star fan who is obsessed with him & his family. Right 
As you said:Dakota has 5 new announced and he still has none
He have 3 movies coming in which he is in main lead and then the fall. So whats your favorites actors/actress movies is coming right now where they are in main lead not a 5-15 minute roles. He said he has something in October but he also said it's nothing certain and that he can't say much about it. Funny you don't even know he can't say a word until producers announced it, He just merely mention it. Most importantly he is promoting his stuff his schedule have to be clear for it and can you tell me what next movie Leonardo Dicaprio is doing?  Oh, and there are rumors that he will play James Bond but I really doubt he will get that role. Well there are many options he is not the only one. As far as his first ever franchise experiences is concerned its disgusting and pathetic. The hate and abuse his family gets after fifty just confirm the fact that book was full of abuse and *beep* so does its readers. Give us a favor you obsess little fanatic get a life and leave him and his family alone. It refreshing to see some who is in business hating or avoiding all Hollywood *beep* but hey Leonardo Dicaprio, Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy have said the similar things as well and they all get appraised because of it but Dornan is going to get hate I guess since he'll always be remembered as Christian Grey To bad for you because people remember his performance as Paul Spector/huntsman as well and his role in Anthropoid as Jan Kubis is also get praised so much that critics said " Dornan is more then CG" or even "This movie should have been Dornan 's break through movie " But hey what I expect from people who are FSOG lovers😷
And Mya Rose I think someone's jealous that their legacy is gonna be Calvin Klein underwear model LOL! You are saying this its hilarious coming this from you who love to see Male actors penis " Orlando Bloom as CG" you love man only in under wear or without it. What is your legacy is account on IMDb.

I see you're angry but your point isn't coming across love!

Yes, i think actors should do full frontal and have made a joke about Orlando Bloom so what?

Doesn't change the fact that this former underwear model looks down his nose at actors way better than him!

BTW I'm very proud that i've held on this long on IMDb!

Funny, I thought their point was quite clear.

Plenty of actors, whom are also far more successful than he, have said the same exact thing. Care to travel to their IMBD Page to comment on those ones too? I.e. Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hartnett etc.

So are you saying that you DON'T think Doctors, Police Officers, Fire Fighters etc have far more educated and respectful jobs than Actors? I mean, you have a right to that opinion, but I guarantee the majority of the world is ration, logical and realistic, so hence your opinion is in the minority which means, you might want to revisit it and ask yourself why exactly you disagree with Dornan, and others who've said the same exact thing. As far as Dakota Johnson, I see no difference between them in the film Fifty Shades of Grey, I saw absolutely no acting whatsoever, just people reading lines off a piece of paper, so quite frankly it's an illogical comparison.

Although the film industry is a man's business, women, attractive women... have better luck than men as actors(actresses) as long as they are thing, somewhat attractive and can read... they have the job. She's thin, pretty, and obviously can read, they expect more from the men, so again... unless she was Meryl Streep, Natalie Portman, or even Jennifer Lawrence... it's a poor comparison. Compare when they both have done other projects outside of Grey and have both won and/or nominated for highly prestigious rewards. Until then, they are flowers just beginning to bloom, they are like that awkward place in your credit. Enough credit for it to look decent, but not bad... you still can't get a loan on a car without a co-signer, and you don't get approved for credit cards despite having no bad credit or debt. That's where the both of them are in their career... it's an awkward stage.

I do think he's a bit pessimistic towards himself, which comes with self esteem and lack of confidence, but this is NOTHING to get angry over and be hateful towards him with. I agree with the majority of what he said. Acting is a ridiculous profession, especially in comparison to those who had to become extremely educated and spend a lifetime of their money to get an education in order to get that job that also requires them to save lives.

Unless he starts spewing racist remarks, etc... I think this entire thread is petty....

Still disagree, Jamie remarks were very particular and direct, its one thing to say all actors are twats but another to very sneakily singled out who (i think) is Patrick Stewart!

Same thing happened with Damian Lewis and Ian McKellen and both the Telegraph and The guardian both wrote articles to say Damian's in no position to mock him

Despite his Homeland fame, Lewis hasn't quite earned the chops to criticise great stage actors for their 'fruity' film work

I mean look at these too, they still can wipe the floor with actors half their age!
