Andrew was too Old to play Spider-Man/Peter Parker

I remember people complaining about Tobey Maguire being 25 and too old to play a high school kid when he was first cast as Peter Parker/Spider-Man back in the early 2000s.

Then 10 years later in 2010 they cast 27 year old Andrew Garfield, made no sense.

Both Tobey and Andrew were too old to play the ultra youthful Spidey role, but Tobey at least looked 18, 19 or 20 when he was actually mid-late 20s.

Andrew even though he conveyed a youthful demeanor and look about him with that puffy hair and skateboarding around thing he did as Peter Parker, still always looked his age, like he was a 30 year old creeper guy skateboarding around a high school. Especially in the second movie, it was weird as hell seeing Peter with his 5 o'clock shadow running around a high school campus.

I agree he was too old to still be playing a highschooler, they atleast were wise enough to have Peter graduate high school in the first half hour of the first Spider-Man film and stick him in college the next 2 films prior.

Lol he looked fine. When is a high schooler actually playing a Hugh schooler? Very rarely. I thought he looked early 20s so what? He could have been a high schooler. Do you see high schoolers? Some genuinely look 30. My cousin used to look about 30 when he was 18. Its one age group up and again,most teens in movies are not teens.

Also, 5 o'clock shadow? People do grow hair after puberty. My friends brother is 17 with a goatee.

Most of the time people in high school in a film or tv look older anyway. Same with college. I saw an old re run of Beverley Hills 90210 the other day and they had a frat meeting and almost none of the actors were young enough to still be in college, they were all in their mid to late 20s. But if that's 'the norm' then it's fine.
