Asshole/Saint notwithstanding: The man gets us ahead.

Getting us off the planet and meanwhile switching to solar electric and electric cars is an awesome contribution to humanity and the wellbeing of the planet.

I don't know Mr Musk personally nor do I need to. His work is beneficial to mankind.

Trying to get the real space program going again after decades of the boring space bus makes putting up with his nuttiness worth it.

What I find interesting is people think that electricity is free.

reply

I have solar panels that pay for themselves. That's free electricity after some years.

Solar panels is the way to go, I would love to be off the grid. I just cant afford the initial cost and the electric company does have some rebates but its not enough. I was referring to electric vehicles. People think well I will just plug my car in. The only problem is that 80% of power plants are coal. So its not doing my much good if everyone is plugging their cars in.

We need tons more solar panels but I doubt the electric companies and government will ever let that happen.

Not so fast. There's some supergrids coming where the sahara provides for the solar panel area. First, Singapore is laying 4500km of 2.5GW powercable to Australia, where a 10GW solar park is to be built. We're getting there.

I don't think he's an ass hat. He's "kinda" cool, not very.

Getting off this horrible planet. LOL. The only planet in the known and unknown universe that we know can sustain life. Yeah, let's shit on this one and leave.

LOL.

Why do people hate the earth so much. I hear this kinda shit all the time around NASA nuts and astronomy kids.

reply

Who said horrible planet? And we are indeed shitting on this one, so cleaning up with the switch to sustainable forms of energy is good. Since warp drive appears to be possible it is about time we get some more space experience. And there's bound to be some planet that is at least terraformable. By going in space we might even find it.
