SMASH failed big time in most part because of Katharine Mcphee, she can't sing none of songs on her albums done well and have cause the record companies money.
She shows no excitement, nothing with her singing a cardboard poster shows more emotions than Kat, the same with her acting she doesn't even try.
And blah blah blah...

shareExactly. She can sing, her acting is decent and she's pretty. Maybe people should be going after the director who was the one who actually cheated on his wife (yes, I know Katherine was married too). For some reason, in these situations, it's always the woman's fault.

Katharine McPhee is possibly the worst actress I have seen on television, and I agree her recordings are lackluster at best, but although I am no fan, I have to say she is a different creature in live performance. All the emotion and immediacy leeches out when she records, but live she can really perform - she has a genuine gift for concert singing.
And her voice, while utterly unsuited for Broadway (she did seem awful compared with Megan Hilty's Ivy in "Smash"), is a lovely, sweet-toned, extremely flexible instrument.
As for her acting, I have seen her achieve what I'd consider D- level work, but most of it is F.
Oh, right. So, she secretly trained a flock of sandflies.
