Holy crap her performance was so good Hollywood needs to wake up and give this girl some more dramatic roles cause she's got some acting chops. She's great in community but I would love to see her star in a feature film cause she's great and also not bad to look at either.

shareFrom what I understand, the reason she's doing comedy right now is because she knew she could do dramatic, and she wanted to stretch her acting ability to something she wasn't sure that she could do: comedy.
I respect that she's trying to strengthen a "weakness," and I"d appreciate her in just about anything.
she's probably also trying to position herself as a comedic actress because there is a growing gap in that niche. She could be like a pretty/youthful version of Anna Faris (who Gillian actually competed against for Faris' lead-female role in the Dictator).
This represents the best opportunity for her to further career especially since her main claim to fame is appearing on Community.
I've been surprised at her dramatic roles as well, like in "Blackbird".
