The show was o...k..., but they made an error. You should face the DEAF PERSON. If you're using a translator, you don't face the translator, & say, "Tell her/him...". You FACE the deaf person, say what you want to say, then the deaf person will face the translator, who WILL translate VERBATIM what you said. THAT'S why you don't say"Tell her/him...", because the translator WILL say "Tell her/him..."

Don't most if not all deaf people read lips?

SOME deaf people read lips. I do a fair job of it myself. But if there is an interpreter being used, the protocol is STILL to talk to the Deaf person, who will then turn to the interpreter.
