Too handsome to play Freddie Mercury

There I said it

he's quite odd-looking, same as freddie

I noticed they got every detail right with how they made Malek up. Even the way Freddie Mercury's teeth were.

reply

It's not that important to be the spitting image of the person you're playing.

Gary Oldman didn't look like Winston Churchill at all, for example. He was great though.

reply

I think Freddie had a nicer skin tone. More caucasian-tanned looking, instead of just dark.

reply

Hmm...Freddy was actually quite a handsome man with the exception of his overbite.
I like Rami but he is not.

reply

Rami is nice looking.
Freddie was very handsome and his overbite was kinda cute.
But he was no Brian May!😉
Brian is GORGEOUS!

reply

I guess it's subjective..
Hard to give a negatory for that kind of enthusiasm!

reply

😉

Rami looks a bit timid and tame, but a guy who's vulnerable sometimes is attractive. And I think RM channeled Freddie well enough, although I haven't seen the movie. Everything I've heard is positive, except for people who wish SBCohen had gotten the role.

reply

Freddie had gentle eyes. Rami has bulging insect eyes. LOL

reply

I find Rami’s eyes interesting. He seems pensive, a bit nervous and yet dangerous. NOT the sort of man
You’d pick a fight with, he’s very twitchy.

Good face for an actor.
This guy should work way more as detectives or crazy outlaws.

reply

they should have had borat be freddie. its a shame it never happened...

reply

That would have been disastrous! Cohen is chilly and closed-off as an actor, while the guy who played Freddie had to be completely open, warm, and uninhibited. Cohen would have sucked, Malek nailed it.

Which is why I'm willing to forgive him for not looking anything like Mercury, or for not being as good-looking overall. Mercury was a good-looking and very photogenic guy, except for the rare moments when his teeth became an issue.
