Between the movies that she totally didn't get through nepotism or the ideas she stole. (rolls eyes) I noticed she is very calculating and comes across as soulless.

she even managed to get a quote on the Los Angeles wiki page.
No other actress did that, so why would wiki let her (some unknown) do that?

coupled with her attempt to get on True Detective, she is just trying to gain favor among Hollywood elite.

I'm guessing in a few years where her plans succeed, people will gush over her "talent" like they do with James Franco.

She is bad for Hollywood.

maybe not on the independent circuit, but your regular people wouldn't recognize her.

She hasn't done enough to get in the public eye, but she will

reply

Agreed. She hasn't done enough to get into the mainstream public eye. I keep up with a lot of television and movies and know some pretty obscure actors from all over the globe. I'm just hearing about Brit Marling now thanks to a press release about a new Netflix series she's helping to create with Zal Batmanglij and will star in. Not knowing who in the world she was, I came here. I've not seen a single thing she's been in. Guess I don't watch enough independent.

This Netflix deal might help make her a more well known name among us regular folks. ;)

It's pretty safe to call her an unknown at the moment. Actually, I hadn't heard about her in a couple of years and was surprised to see her in a story on the IMDB front page's "NewsDesk"... which admittedly isn't what it used to be.

I agree, she has been in some fantastic movies, but she isn't that great of an actress, she must have a good agent who recognizes a good script when they see one, and a lot of connections. Whenever I read a strangely inordinate amount of gushing praise of an actress or actor on IMDB, it always makes me a little suspicious of puppet accounts used by their PR/agency, and she definitely fits the bill in this area.

reply

EXACTLY. I recall looking at one of her earlier threads on this board a few years back, and I swear almost every poster praising her "genius" was a one-post sock puppet account.

That's got to be the most extreme reaction to an IMDb post I've seen in a while. Calm the *beep* down, dude. It's one person's opinion.
