His whole 'I'm so funny because I'm not being funny' shtick

I can't stand it! I don't understand This type of humor! Don't get me wrong I really like Lonely Island and his stuff with Timberlake but I couldn't stand him in the roast. I was so annoyed!

The only bit that was funny was the "Better call a batista cause this roast just got dark". But that was it.

Is this type of humor popular? Am I missing something?

I agree. I find it rather lazy.

I thought it was brilliant anti-humor. It's not for everyone, but he was my favorite roaster. It was refreshing to be mixed in with everyone else who just had straight up insults.

I thought he killed it at the roast...

It's such a love it or hate it type of humor it seems. I enjoy it while my boyfriend doesn't. He mentioned right off the bat that he gets it, it's not that it's going over his head, he just doesn't think it's funny. I laughed a few times, he was annoyed. Just depends on the persons personality I suppose.

Totally agree.

I thought his roast was pretty cowardly. He didn't want to come across as insulting anyone so he turned it all on himself. It wasn't very funny, and he came across a bit dull very quickly.

On the other hand, Bill Hader came across well in the roast, whilst also playing a character and diverting attention from his discomfort of insulting people directly.
