Turns out the guy was a Right-winger
Its coming out he had a web page with lots of Right-wing
rhetoric on it. His family was a Trumper family - maybe
he had daddy issues.

That seems unlikely. More likely he wanted to save the republican party or the USA from the cancer that is Trump. But it's probably as simple as a cry for attention, shooting any high profile target. Suicidal losers agree of all ages.
It's the secret service that failed here, nothing more.
