The premise of that show is that he and other professional singers act as coaches for a group of these aspiring singers. Then these "judges" are asked on TV how their own singers performed. The conflict of interest is astounding. This results in false praise poured onto mediocre performances. Many of the singers can be topped by people doing karaoke all over the USA.

When bad singers perform on America's Got Talent, Simon Cowell now showers them with false praise, in contrast to his years of harsh but honest comments on American Idol.

The Voice cannot change this without eliminating the face time of Shelton and his fellow celebrity "judges." The winners of The Voice remain unknown, so the show is a huge failure in that respect.
