So what do you think this could mean for Robbie's career? He could get a serious breakthrough from this but it's likely to flop again

I see him benefiting from it the most, but not so great for Lily and Jamie.

I am really glad that they consider a second film!!! A friend of mine is a book fan of this series (she is 45) and told me that Robert's character Simon gets so much more attention in the subsequent plot :) As far as I read all the critiques of the first film, there was nowhere a blame on Robert's performance -quite to the contrary his acting skills were described as outstanding within the limits of his role...

I hope they review or even rewrite the script though, and maybe find a better fitting director? lol

He was so good in the first movie. I really think he was perfect as Simon. He should come back.

I definitely want to see him come back for the sequel. Simon in the second book gets a lot more focus, and it would definitely let Robert have more screen time.

Me too. I like the CoB and Simon is my fav after Jace so I am very biased and want him to continue. If it boosts his career that would be excellent but, I think Robert will be fine because he is a good actor.
