Superhero or action franchise?

I know some of his fans are against him being in a big Hollywood franchise like Avengers or Lord of the Rings, but I would like to see him in one. Maybe not those in particular, but something of its caliber. I think he would've made a good Harry Osborn in the Amazing Spiderman. I could so see him as an elf in Lord of the Rings universe. Is he interested in making it big or being in more mainstream films? All his upcoming films are indie dramas that won't be seen by the masses. The Mortal Instruments and Season of the Witch have been his only Hollywood films.

Interesting thread. I'm not sure if Robert is interested in being a big Hollywood star, though I don't think he would mind if it happened. You are right. It seems he goes for the small British indie films. I don't know if it's a preference or if it's more of a 'take what you can get' situation. I don't know what he's auditioning for or if he's turning down major roles. I'm just glad he's working.

This makes me wonder if/when he'll get his "big break". If he does he could end up like Michael Fassbender breaking through in his early thirties, but I can't really imagine him as the lead character in anything mainstream. A supporting character yes, as in second-most important but I don't know, I find it somehow difficult to envision him as the protagonist in a Hollywood film. If he does breakthrough I'd like him to manuevre his way amongst both big and lower budget films so that he doesn't fall into the trap that is Hollyweird.

I agree. I wonder when he'll get his big break too. I have to admit, right now it's hard to picture him in a leading Hollywood role. I think that has a lot to do with not really seeing him in Hollywood films. It was even weird seeing him in TMI and Season of the Witch. I'm just so used to seeing him in small indie films or British/Irish shows.

Yes, to him mixing it up. I wish him huge success but, the actors I enjoy know how to do the indie movie and the huge blockbuster. A good example, is Ryan Gosling who will take an indie film and then turn around and do something with a major budget. Benedict Cumberbatch too, he can do indie, theatre, and turn around and do Lord of the Rings or Star Trek. I love that!

He'd be great in an x-men film, a'la Evan Peters/Quicksilver. He'd also be fun in a movie like Kicka$$ or another comedy-driven superhero movie. If he went the tv route, a Buffy-type show, a stint in the US version of Shameless or even a comedy like 'You're the Worst' would be a perfect fit for him.
