Academy Award nomination effecting role on Preacher?

Rumor has it that Ruth is torn between her commitment to season 2 of Preacher and promoting Loving.

You also have to wonder if she's even going to come back at all. Even the nomination means that she's doubtlessly going to get a lot more scripts sent her way and given the choice between the larger paychecks that movies bring, I think it's a pretty safe bet that she's going to choose the big screen between the small screen.

Don't get me wrong, I think that Ruth was great in the role but I really wouldn't blame her if she decided to pursue movies instead.

The only problem is how this will effect the second season of Preacher. They could always recast her, from what I've read of the comic series, Cassidy and Tulip disappear for a sizable stretch but she's also an integral part of the story.

They could always recast the part since it's early enough in the show's run but at the same time, Ruth has essentially made the part hers. They could also reboot the series with a different actress in the role, maybe follow the comics a little closer since I imagine they've getting a bigger budget.

Or, they could always just do like the BBC does with Sherlock and air short seasons when the cast's schedules allow it.
