Article title speaks for itself. Thoughts?

My thought is this...Sam (and others) have no control over the features they were born with any more than people have control over their height or hair/eye color. To penalize someone for that, in an industry that that celebrates beauty, seems a bit disingenuous. Second thought is that studios, whether movie or tv, aren't going to waste the big bucks on someone who can't do the job and do it well. All done! 🤔🙂

You're more or less saying that being handsome isn’t a liability. Agree! A person just is. Like having blue, green or brown eyes. Although often it is even considered an advantage, it doesn’t mean per se that this is the person’s only asset, and hasn’t anything else to offer. It’s exactly as you express in your second thought. If he hadn’t anything to offer and couldn’t do his job well, they wouldn’t engage him. As simple as that. :)

Yes...neither liabilty nor asset as you have no control over your gene combinations. 🙂 "We initially picked you for what you look like, but because you look like that, we won't take your work seriously, even though it's excellent work, because people will think we gave you accolades because of what you look like since that's why we initially picked you."

Yeah... something like that...
Occasionally circular reasoning does have its charm! 😁

Puts the ridiculousness of the situation in a certain perspective... 😆

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2017!!
Speaking of New Year, I think it would be a good thing if Sam told us how to pronounce and use the word Hogmanay (Scottish New Year). Do they say Happy(?) Hogmanay, or something else?

reply

It's such an odd-looking word. I picture a group of pigs in party hats with noisemakers and glasses of cheer in their little piggy hooves...

Actually, I like how the word looks. Funny that you see an image when looking at the word. I hear a sound, soft and melodious... 😊 🎶🎶🎶
