sharerather; anyhow he could visit eton. his father is a bank manager or such. ER himself says that he grew up privileged.
in interviews ER told, that he could play theatre at school (that was a privilege for him). but he told also, that his parents didn´t want him to act professional, because that´s a breadless art. they (more the father, i guess) always told him, that if he absolutely wants to work in film industry, he shall do it in film productions, because there´s the money. he/they shut up with that, when an actress which he/they liked, told him/them, that his/their son is talented.
his (making good money) older brothers didn´t take his passion for acting serious, too.
ALL LIFE IS EQUAL
It is not hard to guess that his family is rich/ privileged with 5 kids to be able to afford Eton. His dad is a banker.
shareOf course he's talented. There's no denying that. But, I was just curious. It seems like the majority of English actors or actresses that make it big come from posh backgrounds. It's no guarantee for success in acting, but it seems to serve as a tremendous leg up.
shareTrue it could get your foot in the door kinda like being a second or third generation actor can, but if you aren't talented you won't get roles or win awards. If it did people like Tori Spelling will have Oscars
