This rumour started on the Digital Spy Forums. Official announcement on Sunday at 7pm UK time. If it is Chris O'Dowd I think the casting is inspired and good luck to him. He's a fine actor. :-)
sharehahah theres just no way he could pull off playing the doctor, it will never happen. This rumour cant have any weight to it. Eveyone must be sarcastic, it must have been an april fools joke.
I really like Chris O'dowd from the IT Crowd, but i havent seen him in anything else that i thought he did any kind of exemplary job. I still enjoy his performances, but its always biased by how perfect he was in the IT Crowd.
Even if someone is really great in one show, it doesnt mean they'll be great in everything, or even anything else (January Jones/Betty Draper - Mad men anyone?? lmao)!
So in conclusion, Chirs O'Dowd would never be likeable enough to play the doctor. I believe it would be a disaster and dont believe there is anyone who truly onsidered him seriously lol. I also really like Chris O'Dowd and think hes awesome.
Where have you been? It was announced in August 2013. The 12th doctor is going to be played by Peter Capaldi.
