Edit: So prosecutors coached her through the misidentification and told her a made up story...

I often hear that she made an honest mistake and that shoddy policework is to blame.

You'd think she must have known that the man on trial wasn't the same as the man she thought it was at the lineup. Or at least her memory of what he looked like wasn't that reliable.
Yet she went forward with the case. She cooperated with the prosecution.

I suppose you could argue that she thought it must have been him anyway because of the other evidence, like the hair match that turned out not to be as strong as they claimed. Maybe she genuinely believed that her memory was wrong.

I'd like to know specifically what tipped the producer of her movie off. There must have been some major discrepancies if he was willing to question her story at the peak of "me too". The stories I've seen don't really get into details, and I'm curious. Looking forward to the documentary on this.

Edit: She's said she was coached by police after the misidentification. Still curious about the specifics of what made that movie producer suspicious. They really don't look much alike, though, despite what she says.

Edit 2: This New Yorker article answered a lot of my questions. Which is good, because it looks like the unlucky documentary isn't coming.

The producer of the Lucky movie was a disbarred lawyer with a history of fraud. The production of Lucky shut down before he started looking into the rape conviction of Broadwater. The documentary wasn't finished because people weren't getting paid. Maybe his motives weren't as noble as many think. Not sure. Every time I learn more about the case, it adds another surprising twist.

Someone should make a documentary about it. I'm not sure the streaming companies want a story about a false rape conviction, though. Maybe some independent company will do it.

I feel badly for Alice Sebold. She could've handled this better, but I think the prosecutor telling her that made up story about Bridgewater teaming up with witness five to trick her had her believing Bridgewater was the rapist. She was undeniably attacked and raped, and then lied to by a prosecutor.

Who?

Are you trying to be funny? Pretty weak.

reply

No, I don't know who she is.

I'll assume you mean her rape accusation that resulted in a wrongful conviction, which is what I wrote about. You seem to be able to read.

You seem mad that i've never heard of some random crime victim.

Why do people so often go to the "You mad, bro?" response online? LOL.

Here's a link to a site with some info on who she is, what she's done.

Check out the words right after Alice Sebold discussion to find out who she is. The link to the right will give you more detailed info.
